Empty Bowls is our largest fundraiser of the year. It is truly a community effort to raise funds for El Caldito. As they do each year, Las Cruces Potters’ Guild members make more than 1,000 bowls for the event, local restaurants donate gallons of soup, NMSU students collect the soup, Sam’s Club donates the drinks, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church offers its facilities, and El Caldito kitchen volunteers serve the public their “soup kitchen” lunch. Even the live music and the potter’s clay are donated. Many willing hands are required to make the event the success it has been in the past.
